Chronology of the Shimosa Group and Movement of the 'Kashima' Uplift Zone, Central Japan

摘要

The age of the marine Pleistocene Shimosa Group ranges between 450,000 and 80,000 years, based on the correlation of dated marker tephras and comparison with the marine oxygen isotope curve. The Shimosa Group is chracterized by cyclic depositional sequences. Each formation boundary of the group corre- sponds to a low sea level period, as demon- strated by the existence of terrestrial deposita- and unconformity.
