Troubles lie ahead for ailing mobile satellite telephone operator Globalstar. In the year ended 31 December 2000, the company reported a net loss of US$3.8 billion. According to the company's official statement, however, over the year Globalstar has registered 'continued minimal growth in voice traffic but also initial customer acceptance of new data services' and this bodes well for its future.
