Ferrite magnets offer numerous features including superior cost performance ratios, and excellent chemical stability. Since the 1950s, production volumes of ferrite magnets have topped all other varieties of magnets worldwide. Ferric oxides, the principal material, occur as by-products of iron-making and steel-making processes. Thus ferrite magnets are intrinsically less expensive than other rare-earth magnets.
