Preface Special Issue of Bio-complexity: proposals and challenges for overcoming simultaneous crisis of nano-, micro-, and macro- societies
Waseda University, Faculty of Science and Engineering. Applied mechanics and Aerospace engineering. Ken Naitoh Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Laboratory for Promotion of Medical Data Science. Hiroshi Tanaka Last year, editors (Hiroshi Tanaka, Masahiro Nishibori, Soichi Ogishima, Ken Naitoh, Shinjiro Umezu) have proposed the present special issue of Bio-complexity, while discussing with the other editor board members of Journal of Artifi cial Life and Robotics. Then, the administrative board of the International Society of Artificial Life and Robotics (ISAROB) approved the proposal. The new coronavirus (COVID-19) in nano-molecular society appears while bringing severe situation to micro-society of human cells, which also result in damage on macro-society of economy. Are there other small objects in nanoscale, which have given large influence at this level during 1000 years? Human beings may now be aware of this type of threat in nano-scale, because we recently get nano-technologies to detect.
