Bee'ah, a waste management company, has commissioned Zaha Hadid Architects to design its new headquarters in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The 75,300-square-foot headquarters, co-developed with London-based environmental consultants Atelier Ten and engineering firm Buro Happold, will be planned to LEED Platinum standards. Hadid is using the surrounding desert landscape as a conceptual driver, and has settled upon the notion of two intersecting "dunes." A central courtyard will be oriented according to prevailing winds. The construction timetable has not been set.
