[IM] You have designed many offices for different kinds of businesses. What was your first project? [Martin Lesjak] Our own office. As a small dynamic team, we started in an old workshop that suited our work atmosphere. That was a classic loft office, which we divided up using thermal curtains to create a maximum of flexibility for a minimum budget. Then we moved to the Golden Nugget, where our office is still located today. The situation is atypical: in the area facing the courtyard the existing 18th century building was retained, renovated, and fused with a five-storey building. In the front part, on the street front, is the golden extension, which conveys our CI outside, to the city, and there is a passageway to the courtyard where a staircase provides access to all levels. This resulted in "organic" zonings of the kind that we are making today with considerable effort in many open plan offices. The heart of our office is the central two-storey area with the gallery in the old building, where all the routes come together.
