It is tied to the act of creation. The curator came up with the plan for the show for compelling reasons that evolve and flower to convincing notes about the forceful rationale for this show. It is one of those rare instants to bring to bear, in rational and perfectly calibrated way, an unusual event. The results of such a stroke of luck are apparent in this exhibition. We see not only the mastery of consistently painstaking work, not only the organizational side of the undertaking, the design of the exhibition space, the material body of the catalogue and substantial contents: we also detect in every corner and fragment a deliberation, a basic clarity -the product not of hours in motionless contemplation, but of months of the most fervent activity, with the vision of seeing the efforts put to such a sensible use heightens the pleasure in the works. The exhibition can impart knowledge to the visitor, expert or layman. Laymen visitors they leave the exhibition not more learned but more knowledgeable. The task of real, effective presentation is just this: to liberate knowledge from the bounds of the compartmentalized discipline and make it practical.
