For this new production, which will combine around 15 dancers on stage, Flamand has used Ovid's masterly Metamorphoses for inspiration: a mythological poem which infringes on and shatters the classical order. It constrasts impurity, hybridisation and crossbreeding with purity; the notion of porousness and decompartmentalisation with that of boundary; the notion of perpetual change with stability; and the canonization of imagination and its irrationality with cold common sense. The epicurean Campana brothers develop a work based on transforming artisanal products, recycling and infringing accepted aesthetic norms, integrating popular expertise in their local culture and drawing on inspiring stories from their country, such as the reinterpretation of the favela-like gatherings into shimmering conferences.
