摘要

Cold-dielectric superconducting cables with a shield made of superconductors have the characteristic of very low impedance. This characteristic is beneficial in developing flexible ac transmission networks. The use of low impedance cables result in unequal distribution of power flows with parallel circuits of superconducting cables and conventional transmission lines. This work addresses a method of controlling the effective impedance of a cold-dielectric superconducting cable utilizing the shield current to provide control over the power flows. This control requires only a simple circuit or power electronic device as compared with the more traditional method of using a phase angle regulator.
