Superconducting power supply is under development at BINP, Russia. It is assigned for energizing the thin superconducting solenoid, which is being constructed for the CMD-3 particle detector at VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. The power supply will rise up the solenoid current to 1000 A and provide long-term current stabilization. The power supply is designed like a fullwave synchronous a.c.-d.c. converter. It consists of the air-core superconducting transformer and two thermally controlled superconducting switches used as rectifying elements. It operates with 15 A primary a.c. current amplitude and provides output current up to 1500 A. This paper describes the construction of the converter as well as its characteristics achieved in tests.
