New Directions in Lawn and Landscape Water Conservation

As I crisscross the united states and canada to work in water-short and drought-stricken regions, I have begun to rethink a few long-held assumptions and approaches to landscape water conservation that are conventional wisdom to many water managers. In the process, I've come to some new conclusions about what works—and what does not. Where and how much outdoor water people use is changing dramatically; so too must our water-saving strategies and benchmarks for efficiency.
