Strong Energy Policy Helps Economy

Austin, TX.-A strong state energy policy will enhance the economic well being of all Texans, declares the chairman of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers. "A strong oil and gas industry has been the spark plug that ignites the (state's) economic engine for a century," Alliance Chairman Hollis R. Sullivan declared in testimony in July to the Texas Energy Planning Council. Sullivan said economic might gave Texans many advantages over competing states and nations, but that over regulation and taxation were hurting Texas' competitive advantage. "If it is to remain a leader, Texas must change with the times to allow the oil and gas industry to compete in the global economy," he declared.
