ROLE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY FOR PROBLEMS OF ENVIROIMENT, ECONOMY, AND ENERGY (2): NUCLEAR ENERGY AND GLOBAL POLICY OF CO_(2) EMISSION CONSTRAINT

Global Policy of CO_(2) emission constraint such as the Kyoto Protocol is an importantstep against global warming. Nuclear power is carbon-free and sustainable energy and should prevail in the world. This work is an examination of potential of nuclear power and long-term energy forecasts of four approaches for the mitigation of global warming by an original technique "Over-Lapping Generation" under emission constraint until 2100. After 2050, all the countries come to struggle against global warming and developing countries face the shortage of uranium and plutonium not to promote nuclear power there under some approaches. And their average generation costs swing up to 8-10 cents per kWh, while the ones of developed countries stay around 5-6 cents. On the other hand, under an appropriate approach, nuclear power will take a key role for the mitigation of global warming and can reduce this regional disparity because it can supply a huge energy anywhere for centuries.
