Luftwaffe A400M 54+07 (msn 043) is the sixth aircraft delivered to Lufttransportgeschwader 62 (LTG62) based at Wunstorf Air Base where it arrived on on December 15, 2016. Aircraft 54+07 is the first to be equipped with an improved defensive aids subsystem (DASS) featuring: a missile warning system, radar warning receiver and an expendables dispensing system; and capability to airdrop cargo loads weighing up to 8,000kg (17,6361b) and paratroopers from either the ramp or side doors, operate on unprepared grass runways, execute low-level flight in mountainous terrain down to 150ft (45m) above ground by day and 300ft (90m) by night under the pilot's manual control, refuel other aircraft by day, and safely take-off and land in temperatures up to 55°C at sea level. The DASS for all A400Ms is integrated by Airbus Defence and Space at Ulm. The first five aircraft will be upgraded to the new standard and receive subsequent enhancements as they are certified.
