The vortex behavior near the ground is a very important sci- entific problem for many reasons. Dee and Nicholas and Harvey and Perry seem to be the first to have published an ex- perimental study of the vortex behavior near the ground, including the vortex rebound phenomenon. Van Heijst and Flor studied the vortex-wall encounters in stratified flow. Barker and Crow simu- lated the vortex rebounding near the water-free surface in a water tank. Ciffone and Pedley made detailed measurements of the trail- ing vortex trajectory and velocity field in lift-generated wakes.
