The US Army has axed Northrop Grumman's Long Endurance Multi-intelligence Vehicle (LEMV) airship programme. The LEMV lighter-than-air vehicle was to be a persistent optionally manned platform to provide ISR collection over Afghanistan. The Army say that, due to delays, the LEMV will not "provide a capability in the timeframe required."
