RAFs 'new' Spitfire

As the 2011 airshow season approaches, bringing the usual buzz of excitement for the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's (BBMF) air-and groundcrews, there is another cause of celebration and expectation. The Flight's newest recruit, Supermarine Spitfire XVI TE311, is now nearing completion at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. With the first ground-runs set to take place later this year, it seems possible that, this season, TE311 may well fly for the first time in decades. With this in mind, the 2011 BBMF brochure features the aircraft for the first time, a sure sign that it will shortly be seen on the airshow circuit.
