Walter George Tarrant was a successful property developer and building contractor, with offices in London and works at Byfleet in Surrey. Although he was not involved directly with aviation his firm provided timber to many of the pioneer airmen based at Brooklands. On the outbreak of World War One, Tarrant supplied materials for wooden buildings that were being erected all around Britain, as well as wood to build aircraft. Later, W. G. Tarrant and Company was sub-contracted to make aircraft components.
