Moving garments and other cloth objects exhibit dynamic, complexrnwrinkles. Generating such wrinkles in a virtual environment currentlyrnrequires either a time-consuming manual design process, orrna computationally expensive simulation, often combined with accuraternparameter-tuning requiring specialized animator skills. Ourrnwork presents an alternative approach for wrinkle generation whichrncombines coarse cloth animation with a post-processing step for efficientrngeneration of realistic-looking fine dynamic wrinkles. Ourrnmethod uses the stretch tensor of the coarse animation output asrna guide for wrinkle placement. To ensure temporal coherence,rnthe placement mechanism uses a space-time approach allowing notrnonly for smooth wrinkle appearance and disappearance, but also forrnwrinkle motion, splitting, and merging over time. Our method generatesrnbelievable wrinkle geometry using specialized curve-basedrnimplicit deformers. The method is fully automatic and has a singlernuser control parameter that enables the user to mimic differentrnfabrics.
