This paper describes a passive stereo system for capturing the 3Drngeometry of a face in a single-shot under standard light sources.rnThe system is low-cost and easy to deploy. Results are submillimeterrnaccurate and commensurate with those from state-ofthe-rnart systems based on active lighting, and the models meet thernquality requirements of a demanding domain like the movie industry.rnRecovered models are shown for captures from both high-endrncameras in a studio setting and from a consumer binocular-stereorncamera, demonstrating scalability across a spectrum of camera deployments,rnand showing the potential for 3D face modeling to movernbeyond the professional arena and into the emerging consumer marketrnin stereoscopic photography.rnOur primary technical contribution is a modification of standardrnstereo refinement methods to capture pore-scale geometry, using arnqualitative approach that produces visually realistic results. Thernsecond technical contribution is a calibration method suited tornface capture systems. The systemic contribution includes multiplerndemonstrations of system robustness and quality. These includerncapture in a studio setup, capture off a consumer binocular-stereorncamera, scanning of faces of varying gender and ethnicity and age,rncapture of highly-transient facial expression, and scanning a physicalrnmask to provide ground-truth validation.
