The first three sentences of your opening paragraph in the editor's letter (Accountancy, November, p1) are really very good indeed - sharp, crisp and directly to the point. I quote from your editorial: 'Everyone wants it; no one wants to provide it.' This is so true. I receive from Transparency International a daily corruption report that lists organisations, governments, countries etc have not been transparent. When organisations, governments and countries refuse to be transparent, it often has criminal undertones, as is indicated by the Tl reports. I believe that this subject should always be atop the international agenda.
