Gerry Acher, a former senior partner at KPMG, was knighted in the New Year's honours list for charitable services. Sir Gerald was made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) for his work as treasurer of the trust responsible for the running of the Queen's golden jubilee celebrations in 2002.
