GIFT AID REVIEW TO HELP SMS DONORS

An overhaul of Gift Aid rules will see more flexibility for donors who use online platforms and text messaging to make donations to charities so that they are able to comply with the rules without making multiple submissions from April 2017. HMRC is currently consulting on draft secondary legislation to give intermediaries a greater role in administering Gift Aid. The measures are designed to make it easier for donors to make donations via text message and SMS, while still benefiting from Gift Aid contributions.
