Let Users Create Formatted Text in Microsoft Access

Here's all the code that you need to handle rich, formatted text in your application using the Rich TextBox control. If you put a standard text box on your form, users can't apply formats, such as boldface or italics, to characters or phrases. If you want to give users the ability to create formatted text, you can use the ActiveX Rich Text control instead. Figure 1 on page 8 shows rich text both with formatting applied and with the formatting codes displayed. Supporting formatting can require a great deal of code because, quite frankly, Microsoft Word has raised users' expectations. We've included all the code you need to support typical formatting options in our example database, including a set of buttons for applying formatting, setting formats by using shortcut keys, and reporting the state of the currently selected text through the format buttons. We even handle converting formally unformatted text to rich text.
