What do employees value most in their jobs? This is a deceivingly complex yet important question for any manager concerned with retaining talent to ponder. And in today's global economy, perhaps part of the answer is where thernemployees are located and the prevalent cultural values of the region. In other words, what people value most in their jobs may depend, at least in part, on cultural values.rnIncreasingly, managers are finding themselves leading diverse workforces with employees scattered across dozens of nations. And for global companies to remain competitive they need to retain their top talent. Naturally, retaining talent is a lot easier when workers feel good about their jobs and are committed to their organizations. When employees feel positive about their workplaces they are less likely to be searching for greener pastures elsewhere. Consequently, a key challenge for global companies is figuring out how to best motivate and satisfy a workforce that is not only diverse in terms of geographic location and cultural values, but, as a result, also diverse in what they need and want from their jobs.
