Background and PurposeUltrasonographic plaque echolucency has been studied as a stroke risk marker in carotid atherosclerotic disease. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the association between ultrasound determined carotid plaque echolucency and future ipsilateral stroke risk.
