"Principles of Urban Planning" course possess the characteristics of the knowledge of a comprehensive, practical, policy-oriented and dynamic, and there are different sources in urban planning’s origin. It is necessary to fit in society of the urban planning personnel needs through reforming teaching which must closely folow the development of practice, practice areas, improve methods, and prominent professional characteristics. Based on which, urban planning principles courses characteristics and urban planning practice development needs were analyzed. With urban planning teaching experience and professional background, many measures were proposed, such as the emphasis on focus, contented optimization, enhanced case and practiced areas, conducted teaching research and multimedia teaching etc.%《城市规划原理》课程所具有的综合性、实践性、政策性、动态性等特点和我国城市规划专业的不同渊源背景，使得其教学必须紧跟实践发展，加强实践环节，改进教学手段，突出专业特色，以适应社会对城市规划人才的需求。基于此，本文通过对城市规划原理制课程特点和城市规划实践发展需求分析，结合作者城市规划教学经验和所在学校城市规划专业的背景，提出了突出重点，优化内容，加强案例教学和实践环节，开展教学研究和强化多媒体教学等措施。
