Since its first mention in the 1990s, the term post-method has been modified and tailored a number of times and seems to have taken shape. But instead of testifying the death of methods, which was raised as a sensational proposition at the time, the term now stands for a set of ideas held by a few as to how to conduct foreign language teaching. As the term is introduced into our country, both its denotation and connotation have been exaggerated, emphasizing that methods have become useless. This is, however, an illogical proposition in itself.%语言教学的“后方法”之说于上世纪90年代在西方首次出现,几经修饰补充,似已形成一套观念体系。然而该观念体系实为某些人关于语言教学的主张,而非对发起者当初所提“方法已亡”现实的验证。所谓后方法说被引入我国,其内涵与外延均被夸大。推介者只顾强调某些方法因过时而无用,却忽视了方法对于外语教学的普遍意义。毋庸讳言,否定方法的实际价值在逻辑上是讲不通的。
