More and more importance is attached to listening comprehension, as a basic language skill. The course of listening comprehension is a complex course of information processing and decoding combined with restructuring the meaning of a discourse. It is also a course of interaction of“top-down processing” and “bottom-up processing”. However, the close relationship between the background knowledge or schema and listening comprehension is always ignored. This paper, from the angle of cognitive psychology, discusses the important role of schema theory in the procedure of listening comprehension.%听力理解作为一项基本语言技能已经受到越来越多外语学习者的重视,听力理解过程是一种信息解码过程,是意义再构建的复杂的信息处理过程,也是“自上而下”和“自下而上”相结合的信息处理过程。然而与听力理解密切相关的背景知识即图式却常常被忽略。本文从认知心理学的角度探讨图式理论在听力教学中的重要作用及图式理论对英语听力教学的启示。
