A Review of the Semantic Interpretation of Bare Noun Phrases

cqvip:Bare noun phrases are difined as noun phrases without determiners.Since Carlson(1977),bare noun phrases,as a special category of noun phrases have been arousing great interest in the field of linguistics.A lot of studies have been conducted by scholars both home and abroad.Opinions can be achieved into different approaches.This present paper summarizes the accomplishment in the semantic interpretation of bare noun phrases in languages,esp in English and Chinese in order to provide a general introduction to the problems related to and the research prospect of bare noun phrases.
