大学英语教学中源于希腊神话词汇的探析

摘要

Language is culture and culture is communication. The development of English, to some extent, is influenced by Greek mythology. And a lot of English words come from Greek mytholo-gy stories. Understanding these words can help us understand western culture and enhance our cross-cultural awareness. As a result, letting students learn as more Greek mythology stories as possible and understand some related background is an extremely important task in college English teaching.%　　语言就是文化，而文化就是交际。英语的发展在很大程度上受希腊神话的影响，英语中的很多词汇源于希腊神话典故。了解这些词汇有助于我们了解西方文化，有助于提高我们的跨文化意识。因此，在大学英语教学中让学生尽可能多地接触一些希腊神话典故及了解相关的一些背景知识是一项极其重要的任务。
