A Corpus-Based Comparative Study of Synonym Usage: Take accomplish, fulfill and Achieve as Examples

As the foundation of a language,vocabulary is an important object of learning and application.In the process of learningEnglish,vocabulary is a great challenge for learners.There are a large number of synonyms in English,and it has been a difficulttask to distinguish and use them.Based on COCA,the study adopts the method of empirical research to analyze the synonyms of"accomplish""fulfill"and"achieve",mainly from three aspects:word frequency distribution,collocation and colligation.The re-sults show that although synonyms in English are similar in semantics,they are different in word frequency distribution,collocationand colligation.
