A Case Study of Never Give in Never, Never, Never from the Perspective of Three Modes of Persuasion

         

摘要

The research sets out to illustrate how Winston Churchill resorted to the three modes of persuasion,i.e,logos,pathos,and ethos,to make his speech Never Give in,Never,Never,Never a classic.In order to achieve this goal,at first the theoretical framework is established.And then examples and details of the speech are selected out to be analyzed based on the theories mentioned above.At the end of the paper,a conclusion is made.It is found that to explore the effectiveness and the art of a political speech,three appeals are of great help and power.
