A Psychological Analysis of Laura's Personality in Katherine Mansfield's The Garden Party

This paper explores Laura's inner world, applying Freud's theory of the unconscious and the structure of the mind,Jung's idea of archetypes, and Lacan's concepts of the three orders. The story in The Garden Party depicts, in the movement toward adulthood, how Laura feels, thinks and acts under the drive of the id, and the adjustment of the ego and the superego. Laura's psychological development indicates Laura has a healthy personality. She can confront her imperfection in her growth.
