Preliminary Cultural Comparison of Animal-related Idioms in English and Chinese

摘要

Idiom contains distinctive cultural features and strong ethnic characters.There are a large amount of animal-related idioms in English and Chinese.Many of them have gradually gained their own cultural connotations with the development of the human society.This paper attempts to display the culture phenomena of the animal-related idioms in English and Chinese and analyze their similarities and differences in accordance with sociolinguistic and cognitive linguistic theories,which can arouse learners' interest in learning and understanding the language.
