"29 Inventions" gives a superb demonstration of the contradictory,chaotic and alarmed state of a psychosomatic woman.Such experimental characterization is attributed to the narrative techniques,the free interchangeability of the identities of "I" and "She" and the different types of speech presentation.In terms of two aspects,the narrator and the speech presentation,this paper explores into its artistic and the thematic effects.The makeup of two different identities out of one person,for one thing,is helpful to show the character more objectively and comprehensively;for another,is convenient to show the character's inner mind.Besides,DD,FID and FDD,used in the exact position,contribute to the success of this short story.
