Oedipus Rex, which was created by Sophocles, is a famous tragedy. Although Oedipus in this play tries very hard to find his ori⁃gin and self-identity, it is not necessarily the reason for his downfall. The real reason he was so tragic is that he had no control of himself, making things worse by his arrogance, ostentation and fierce-temptation and therefore inevitably fulfilled his fate no matter how hard he tries to escape.
