In 1960s,one film named Edipo Re directed by an Italian director Pasonili was released.This movie is the only film adaption of famous tragedy Oedipus the King which written by Sophocles while many other kinds of adaption are existing.A brief introduction of the movie about its director and plot was given in the beginning of this paper.Partly different from the original story,the director tell this story by combining the scene of modern society and the ancient city.By changing different shots and scenes,director uses the same story to express his own affection and opinion.In the last part of this paper,this movie is analyzed from three different points including director’s homosexual tendency,his support of Marxism and his resistance on industrial society.
