The Loss of Emotional Significance in Translation from the Point of Cultural Differences

摘要

For truly successful translating, biculturalism is even more important than bilingualism, therefore translation in nature is an activity of cross-cultural communication.A different language has certain particularity or individuality. There may not be consistently corresponding relation in denotation and meaning among different languages. The uncertainty of translation exists objectively,so does the untranslatability of the emotional significance hidden behind the original text.To reach the corresponsive effect in translation between English and Chinese,it is necessary to be aware of the cultural elements, especially the loss of emotional significance produced from cultural differences of these two languages.
