Text types strongly affect the selection of translation strategy. Reiss’and Newmark’s translation theories on Text Ty-pology contribute a lot to translation studies, but there are some differences as well as similarities in them. The author demon-strates deep understanding of their theories, and compares and analyzes their points on text types, and proposes that they differ in translation methods, steps, and approaches for translation criticism.
