Remifentanil is a new short-acting artificialμ-opioid agonist, easily hydrolyzed by cholinesterase in body because it has an ester structure, which is barely influenced by age, gender or weight,and even does not depend on hepatic and renal capacity. With very short halbwertzeit, no accumulation from continuous infusion and little side effects, it is an ideal fast and effective short - acting narcotic analgesic.
