'The Deficiency'(qianque), the latest short story by Ng Kim Chew(Huang Jinshu), published in July, 2015, is an important work of self-identification in his writing career. It tells of the reconstruction of self-identity of a wandering wri ter and, with multiple metaphors, provides an in-depth expose of the sadness and symbolism contained in the act of writing in Chinese, an expose that is not without its problems.
