Xiong Shi-li takes "unity of substance and function" as the principle of his philosophy, emphasizing the function of reality to illustrate the practicality of ontology. All things in the universe, in accordance with the changes in the mechanism of "Xi Bi Cheng Bian”, present a dynamic morphology of birth and death, and infinite creation, continually indicating the vigorous and smooth connotation of the ontology.%熊十力以“体用不二”为其哲学的宗旨，强调要即真实活跃而日新的大用流行来证显本体的实在性，从而实现对以往其他本体观的超越。而万物依照“翕辟成变”的变化机理，呈现出生灭相续、创生无穷的丰富形态，不断昭明着本体之自性、刚健、无滞碍的内涵。
