1844年（清道光二十四年，朝鲜宪宗十年）清朝派出吊祭使柏莅前往朝鲜谕祭朝鲜孝显王妃。柏蔹在朝期间，除完成吊祭使命外，还进行了赏赐朝鲜官民、辞却赆银、观赏景色以及与朝鲜官员进行诗歌交流等活动。通过对柏薇在朝鲜活动的研究可以看到，清朝虽然在鸦片战争中惨败，但其在朝鲜的地位并未削弱，清朝与朝鲜仍维系着友好的关系，而柏莅与朝鲜官员的诗歌交流则可视为此一时期中朝文化友好交流的见证。%In 1844, （the 24th year of Emperor Dao Guang of Qing Dynasty, or the 10th year of Heonjong of Joeson Dynasty） Bai Jun was sent to Korea as the envoy to attend the funeral of Princess Hyiao Hyian. After the funeral, Bai also took part in various activities. He bestowed gifts on Korean officials and common people, refused farewell presents, went sightseeing and exchanged what he had learned from poetry writ- ing with Korean scholars. All these show that the status of Qing Dynasty in Korea hadn＇t been weakened though it had to face the crushing defeat in the Opium War. Friendly cultural communication between Qing Dynasty and Joeson Dynasty stiff kept firm at that time. The exchange of poetry writing between Bai Jun and Korean scholars can bear witness to that period of history.
