汉代以前中原汉文化就已传入西域。此后通过屯田、贸易等多种方式，汉文化源源不断传入西域与西域各民族文化互动交融并逐渐形成“以内地文化特别是汉文化为母体”的屯垦文化。它不仅丰富了新疆地域文化，成为新疆地域文化重要的组成部分而且为推动新疆文化进步，促进新疆各民族对伟大祖国、对中华民族、对中华文化的认同，和谐民族关系，维护国家统一发挥了不可磨灭的作用。%The Han culture from Central Plains entered into the western regions before the Han dynasty. Afterwards, throught business and stationing troops to open up wasteland, the Han culture gradually disseminated to and mingled with other ethnic cultures and the culture of stationing troops to open up wasteland, which took the central Han culture as its matrix, came into being. This culture not only enriches and becomes a vital componential part of Xinjang local culture, also plays an indelible role in promoting the cultural development, enforcing the ethnic minorities' cultural identity of Chinese culture, harmonizing ethnic relationship and maintaining the national unity.
