21世纪的西部大开发，应该是以地域性开发和发展促进国家整体现代化进程的创造性的社会行动。在应对和参与这一规模宏大的社会实践中，西部社会学从实践基础、理论架构和研究主题等方面逐渐探索并提出了相关的命题，从而催生和形成了西部社会学的初步解读框架。%The development of western region in the 21st century should be based on the balance between localized development and enhance the w hole development of the country.
