魏剑美原名“建美”，他之所以要改名为“剑美”，就是要以文字之剑和思想之剑为武器，“对不公平的现实，对丑恶的人性，对腐败的官场，对媚俗的教育，对堕落的世风”等等不良现象进行深入的剖析，并将这些现象背后的丑陋灵魂赤裸裸地暴露在大众面前。“剑美”剑锋所指的重点则是中国文化中一个极为突出的痼疾：“官本位”和特权思想。“官位”决定一切，官运通而一通百通，官位废则一废百废；官位不仅决定了一个人的名誉和地位，也是评价一个人的价值标准，更是引诱一个人堕落的渊薮。魏剑美对这些现象进行了无情的解剖和深入骨髓的刻画，其目的就是要提醒人们“换个起点，换个活法”。%Wei Jianmei once was named “建美”which means developing a beautiful world.But now “剑美”suggests his literary ideal,that is,he manages to dissect the negative phenomena of inequality,official corrup-tion,moral decay,and improper education with the “sword”of essays and ideas and expose the hidden ugly soul to people.He reveals an extrusive problem in Chinese culture———bureaucracy and privilege.It seems that the of-ficial position can control everything such as fame and right;even it becomes a measuring standard of one’s value and an inducement of one’s decadence.Wei Jianmei attempts to remind people of the new and different lifestyle through elaborating and illustrating these social phenomena.
