摘要

The Crime of Father Amaro is considered as a rare work of critical realism in the history of Portuguese Litera- ture. It reveals religious forces ruthlessly and severely criticizes religious asceticism. However, this paper argues that the author did not deny the religion, and through the interpretation of work, it also recognizes the author＇ s ambivalent atli- tudes toward the religious issue. It helps the readers fully understand this work and explore the concept of religion, so as to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the effects of the author＇ s creative thinking.%《阿马鲁神父的罪恶》被认为是葡萄牙文学史上难得的一部批判现实主义作品。它对宗教势力给予无情的揭露，对宗教禁欲主义给予严厉的抨击。尽管如此，本文认为作者并未否定宗教，而是通过对作品解读认识到作者在宗教问题上存在两面性的矛盾态度。这使得读者能更全面地理解这部作品，探究作者的宗教观，从而达到全面认识作者的创作思想的效果。
