As a significant feature of English written language,nominalization could make the discourse more formal and objec-tive.The adoption of nominalization in political speech not only increases its information density.The current paper studied nominalization in Obama's inaugural speech to help readers understand the discourse meaning and the intention of political speech better.%名物化是英语书面语的一个重要特征，它能使行文更加正式和客观。政治类演讲同时具备了书面和口语的特征，名物化的运用不仅能增加演讲的信息密度，而且会使演讲变得更为客观、权威。本文以奥巴马总统就职演讲为例，对其中的名物化现象进行统计，以期分析其在政治演讲中的分布情况及功能特征，从而帮助我们更好地理解政治类演讲的语篇意义和演讲者的意图。
