This paper tries to use Alder's Individual psychology theory and Frantz Fanon's Postcolonial Theory to analyze the protagonist Coleman Silk's inferiority complex under the racial prejudice , including the origin , compensation of his inferiority complex and the final lost in identity crisis which reflects his inner sufferings , so as to expose the American social stain of racial prejudice committed to people of different color , and the psychological sufferings people endure under the racial prejudice .
